Berryman Lee Pinkard

Berryman Lee ("Lee") Pinkard was the son of U.S. Civil War (U.S. Colored Troops) soldier, Winkfield Pinkard and his wife, Hanna D. (nee Walker) Pinkard. Lee was farmer and community leader. He has been credited with organizing a group of people to celebrate the Nineteenth of June in Limestone County. Lee also copied documents that helped lay the foundation for the establishment of the Limestone County Nineteenth of June Organization which currently hosts the longest continuous Juneteenth celebration in Texas.
