Rev. Sim Conner, Sr.

Sim Conner, Sr. was a community leader and reverend in Limestone County, Texas. He was the son of Alfred Conner (1820 - 1892) and wife, Eliza (nee Walker) Conner (b. bef. 1870). He was united in marriage to Rachel Medlock on January 29, 1883 in Limestone County, Texas. He was united in marriage to Betsy Aker on December 12, 1940 at age 82.

“Uncle Sim” Conner, as he was known, was present for the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation on the Old Governor Stroud Plantation on June 19, 1865. After Emancipation, Uncle Sim Conner carved out the land boundaries for The Bend Cemetery which became a focal point for the Cedar Creek community.
